Summer Goth

shoes: deena & ozzy, sunglasses: karen walker (I feel like I should get some other sunglasses because I wear these so often but they just got with everything), skirt and top: ASOS.

I bought these shoes a few months ago and actually forgot all about them until a couple of days ago! I’m still really wanting some proper black and white saddle shoes but maybe these will tide me over for a few weeks. After looking at these photos I think I need to take a couple of darts in the top just under the shoulders, that might be my next attempt-to-sew adventure. I do really like how it’s sheer but not super obviously see through though.

2011 wrap up

Alright so I’m joining in the millions of other bloggers and doing a 2011 wrap up post. I’ll try to keep it as short as possible since I’m guessing you have all read about 400 of these by now. 2011 was a pretty mixed year for me after being made redundant at my job early in the year, I’m still trying to find my feet job-wise and it’s tough. In other ways it was pretty great though – my boyfriend and I celebrated out 3rd anniversary which was a nice milestone, I did a bit of freelance writing (for a website that hasn’t launched just yet) which is something I’d like to do more of in the new year, and I’m really proud of how FAT AUS has grown since it’s first birthday (blog birthday? I don’t know) in August. These are a few of my favourite posts/outfits from the past year (click on the image to go to the post):

The most popular/most viewed posts on FAT AUS included So You Want To Shave (Half) Your Head, How To Turn Non-Skinny Leg Jeans Into Skinny Leg Jeans, my Top Ten Make Up Products and my review of an Angry Young And Poor leather jacket.

I’m still working on my personal resolutions but blog-wise there’s a lot of things I’d like to do in 2012. Most of all I’d like to be a bit more consistent, do the Heaps Cool Stuff posts on a set day each week, try to post one or two outfit posts a week, do an Instagram post every couple of weeks and maybe make the Heaps Cool Bloggers post a semi-regular thing. I’m currently working on a ‘Meet The Sponsors’ post to give my advertisers/sponsors a chance to talk a bit about their shops/blogs and hopefully you guys will enjoy reading about them. I might do a couple of other regular features if I can think of some that I’d like to write/that I think you guys would enjoy reading. I’m definitely open to any thoughts/suggestions you guys have regarding how to make FAT AUS a better blog.

I would like to thank each and every one of you who come and read my blog, I do really appreciate every single one of you and I love getting your comments, emails, messages on tumblr, tweets etc. I am really pleased by how well this blog is doing after a little over a year, I never thought my little blog would become this widely read! I hope you all had a great New Year and I hope 2012 is awesome xx

Sleeves.

Here is a weird photo of me dancing in the garden trying to show the full extent of these amazing sleeves.

body suit: river island (via ASOS), jeans: torrid (these jeans are super comfy but they’re supposed to be ‘high waisted’ and they actually sit an inch or two below my natural waist. I’m not sure if they’re made too short or if I just have a weirdly high waist), necklace: little pancakes, shoes: etsy, bag: river island, sunglasses: karen walker.

Lemons

loafers: vintage, sunglasses: karen walker, trousers: tripp, jumper: little lost land

After we took normal outfit photos Tom decided we should play catch with the lemons that had fallen off my neighbours’ tree into our yard and this happened:

Seeing Red

leopard jacket: fever, white tshirt: TBC, red jeans: torrid, brown boots: ASOS.

Rouge Artist Intense

dress – ASOS, leather jacket: angry young and poor, scarf: gift from my housemate, creepers: demonia, lipstick: makeup forever – rouge artist intense #14

I actually didn’t really like this dress when it first arrived, I’ve since embraced but I hate that after a couple of hours wear it stretches out and goes all baggy down the bottom. When I first put it on it’s really figure hugging all the way down to just below my knees but after wearing it/walking around for an hour or two the bottom goes all baggy and starts ride up/lose it’s shape. I do however really really love this lipstick that my housemate brought me from her recent trip to Europe. I’ve actually got two other purple lipsticks (one from Mac and one from Chanel) but this one is just tiny bit lighter and looks very purpley, whereas the other two verge on black.

Little Triangles

I was planning on taking some photos of this outfit in my backyard but as soon as I stepped outside it started raining! So here are some lounge room PhotoBooth pictures instead:

dress – ASOS,, tights: c/o We Love Colors, jacket: New Look, boots: ASOS, painting of either Michael Jackson or a Rabbi in the background: op shop.

And I wanted to show you guys this necklace that I bought from Little Pancakes recently:

I’m not a big necklace wearer but I can’t seem to take this one off, I love it.
