Hey buddies! I don’t think I’ve mentioned that since my last Instagram update post the business I worked for decided to move the department I worked in interstate. So that means 1) I no longer have a job (if you know of a non-terrible job in Melbourne let me know!) and 2) I can’t take Instagram elevator fashion photos anymore! But here are a few that I took before I finished working:

Look at that grumpy face! And look at that amazing jacket that I found in a small town op shop (thrift store) for a couple of bucks.

I thought I was stealing this jumper from my boyfriend but it turns out it actually belongs to our friend James. Hi James!

I don’t know why I’m looking so grumpy because that coat is one of my favourite things ever. It’s from TopShop but from about three years ago.

These shoes cost $8. And my t-shirt is from Hunx and his Punx who are amazing.

I think this was my last night of work. The Endless Bummer tote from Fieldguided is one of my current favourite things.

So in the week or so that I’ve been unemployed I’ve been doing things like:

Really crap/easy DIY projects. I don’t even know what this paint was meant for but I used it to paint a shelf. Garfield helped.

I tied some Spanish moss up with string and hung it on my window.

I turned this clear glass skull into a snowglobe type thing with pink glitter and water.

And I put some of my plants into proper pots.

When I’m not doing really simple DIYs I’ve been buying and reading a lot of books, and buying and listening to a lot of records:

I have a plan to turn one of our spare bedrooms into a teen girl bedroom art installation type thing (aka an excuse to make my teen girl dream bedroom) and the Sweet Valley High books are a part of that. I want to collect the entire series.

SO excited to read Elvis and Me.

I felt like everyone in the world was reading Gone Girl except me.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac lately. It’s really nice to have a record player again! I was going to replace the needle on my old record player but it ended up that the needle would have cost more than the entire thing was really worth so I ended up buying a new cheap record player and so far it’s been really great.

Ok, so if you want to be Instagram buddies I am bronnyzig and you will see lots of photos of my cats.

I still haven’t unpacked my proper camera because I am the worst at unpacking but I have been Instagramming some outfits lately so here’s a pretty good collection of what I’ve been wearing lately:

Dress from ASOS, shirt from Dorothy Perkins.

Dress from Dotti, cardigan from Etsy, lipstick: Chanel – Hysteria.

Jacket from ASOS, same lipstick as above.

I had some weird plan to grow out my fringe entirely but I just couldn’t do it and got a little scissor-happy in my bathroom.

Skirt from Brodie’s garage sale, jumper: op shopped, tights c/o We Love Colors.

Apple sunglasses – ASOS.

My new favourite lipstick! Dior – Mysterious Mauve.

Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters, nail strips: Sally Hansen.

Dress: Target, shoes: Urban Outfitters.

And a couple of sneak peeks at my new house (I’m planning on doing one of those ~house tours~ bloggers love so much when it’s all finally organised):

Shower curtain courtesy of Tom.

If you’ve been missing my updates you can always head over to Least Likely where I wrote about all the books I want to read and why I should buy an e-Reader the other day or follow me on Instagram (bronnyzig) xx

Apparently a lot of blog-readers hate Instagram photo posts on blogs because they’re lazy and presumably if you like the blogger you’re already following them on Instagram so you’ve already seen the photos anyway. This is probably a totally valid criticism BUT I like to think that even if you do follow me on Instagram I do write a little more about the photos when I post them on Fat Aus. Anyway, if you don’t like Instagram posts you can just scroll on by and miss out on the very interesting stories behind these photos (disclaimer: stories may not actually be interesting at all).

We were so excited about our new house that we took all the furniture that would fit in my car (a couple of chairs, a couch, a few cheap Ikea tables) and hung out there a lot before our actual official moving day. This is a photo of Tom sitting in our dining room just before we had dinner by candle light sitting on milk crates. The wood panelling is possibly my favourite thing about our house.

If you didn’t make it to the Hey Fatty vintage market in Fitzroy the other week, you missed out on the amazing Kelli Jean Drinkwater looking babely and MCing

and you missed out on a little sneak peek of Gisela Ramirez‘s new collection.

A few weeks ago Tom and I went on a two and a half hour drive to Phillip Island to buy a Windows 95 computer that he bought on eBay. We’ve mostly been running it in DOS and playing Crystal Caves and other childhood favourite games and having lots of super nostalgic fun. Tom had never been to Phillip Island and I hadn’t been there since I was a kid so after we picked up the computer we drove around a little and came across this wave.

Remember Karen Brewer, ‘Babysitters Little Sister’? With all her ‘Karen Two-two’ crap ugh, she was the worst. She totally deserved this mullet.

This was Zigmond’s idea of helping me pack.

Tom and I got this guy to move in and help with the rent. He’s really quiet and he didn’t want any of Tom’s burger…

While packing to move I found my CD collection. I don’t think I’ve bought a CD since about 2004 so my collection is mostly made up of things I bought when I was a teenager. Ani DiFranco, Bif Naked, Le Tigre, Hole, Tori Amos, Kittie – so much teenage angst in this photo! I actually made a Spotify playlist based on these CDs/other music I loved as a teen (and still love now to be honest).

I think I need to plan some kind of board game night now that I’ve remembered how many of them I own. I especially want to play Nightmare again! It terrified me as a kid.

The main thing I’m going to miss about my old apartment is the floor the ceiling windows.

Elevator fashion at work.

More elevator fashion at work.

For Flashback Friday on Instagram: me in about 2006 when I thought it was a good idea to dye my hair blonde.

Cuddles with Zigmond.

Even more elevator fashion at work.

My girl Brodie made me a delicious dinner of General Tso’s chicken, steamed broccoli and fried rice the other night. It was amazing. I tried to re-create it at home for Tom recently (he lived in New York for a while and used to order it a lot) and it turned out pretty well, although maybe not quite as good as Brodie’s.

The first area in our new house that is all set up, a little reading nook in the dining room. We need to get a new needle for the record player and then this will be the first corner of the house that is officially ‘done’.

Garfield and Zigmond are settling in together quite well, hardly any kitty fights so far! There’s been a few hisses but they have been sleeping on the same bed and couch. I’m just waiting for the day I come home to find them cuddling.

I’ll probably have the Party Of Five Season Two recap post up soon, I’ve almost finished watching it. I’ve taken a couple of breaks with moving house and everything but also because the Salingers were getting on my nerves in big doses and I swear it was on the verge of turning into Passions (although I wouldn’t mind if Charlie Salinger fell into a boiling vat of tuna).

Tom with Garfield and Tom with Zigmond. We’re a little worried about how these two estranged brothers are going to deal with living together soon. Hopefully it will be all purrs and kitty kisses.

A little outfit photo at work. Tom’s mum made this snood/circle scarf for me for my birthday last month and I’m trying to squeeze every last wear out of it before the weather gets too warm because I love it.

Various cool things at my Dad’s house like that stair case and heaps of Mercedes (I want one!).

Tom and I pretending to be sad in our new home. We signed the lease and picked up the keys on Tuesday and despite our crying faces above we are super excited to move in and live together. And we’re pretty excited about the wood panelling too.

We met our first new neighbour! He/she looks like a little Zigmond with white socks on.

The VHS collection at our new local video store is pretty incredible. I’ve been trying to find a copy of Wisdom for years (written, directed by and starring a 24 year old Emilio) and New Best Friend was one of my trashy teenage favourites (along with that movie Tart from 2001 with Dominique Swain (she did some great movies in the late 90s/early 2000s) and Bijou Phillips).

This is how I wake up most mornings, with Zigmond perched on my back looking like a creep.

And I’ve just started re-watching Party of Five. It’s amazing and I think it might actually deserve a post all of its own, but until then here is a pre-Clueless Brittany Murphy playing a popular mean girl.

So first things first – if you’re in Australia you can tune into A Current Affair on channel 9 at 6.30pm tonight to see me, Fashion Hayley and Caitlin from Closet Confessions talking about fat blogging and fat fashion etc. I filmed my interview on Friday running on about two hours sleep and having not seen the questions beforehand so if I look or sound dumb, well there’s my excuse. But hopefully it will be a good segment. I’ll try to find it online and post it afterwards so you non-Australians can see it too.

Apart from being interviewed for television I have done some other things over the past couple of weeks, such as:

Getting a little crazy at the Chanel counter. I bought blush for the first time, along with some various other products (my favourite HG foundation, Pro Lumiere was discontinued so I decided to try Perfection Lumiere and so far I like it). Chanel is my absolute favourite make up brand, it’s expensive but I really do think it’s worth it.

I wore this outfit which I already posted a proper outfit post of but anyway the dress is from Big W (!! I know!) and the nail polish is Chanel – Peridot, which is my (and anybody else who was born in August) birth stone.

I made Ferrero Rocher stuffed chocolate cupcakes with Nutella buttercream frosting. They were insanely rich and insanely good.

Instead of a cake, Tom made me a huge brownie in the shape/face of a cat.

Oh here I am at a cafe just casually reading the Fatshionistas article in Cleo.

I love cacti and this guy was pretty impressive.

Los Latinos already have one awesome restaurant in Maidstone that Tom and I have been obsessed with for a while now, but they’ve recently opened a second location in Ascot Vale so we went to check it out. The burritos are still incredible.

I bought Zigmond this jacket. He was pissed.

I have eaten lots of delicious things lately. Anyone who hates food photos on Instagram is basically a jerk because I love them.

Tom took me on a secret surprise weekend away (that just sounds so ‘adult’ that it kind of freaks me out) and booked a cabin by the beach for a few days. We had an open fire and we toasted marshmallows and watched awesome movies like Pin.

We also went to a 3D spooky maze (yes it was awesome, and yes we were the only adults there who did not have children) and met this wombat who looks like Zigmond.

See? He is a wombat.

This is how I feel about anybody telling women what not to wear.

I’ve been getting pretty lucky in the secondhand/cheap book buying game lately.

The precious angel on his heated bed.

Some scenery around what is (hopefully!) going to be my new neighbourhood.

Punnets of strawberries were three for four dollars at the market the other day so I got a little excited and bought a bunch of them. I was planning on making some jam (I still might) but yesterday I used one of the punnets to make some fresh strawberry cupcakes with strawberry cream cheese frosting.

And if you’d like to be Instagram buddies you can find me on there bronnyzig.

Instagramin’ It Up

Instagramin’ It Up

I’ve noticed that most of the photos I post on Instagram can be put into one of three categories:

1. Cute kitty photos:

2. Photos of delicious food:

Pork roll

Baked beans for breakfast with my pal Brodie.

Chicken parma with smoked kangaroo on top

Banana split

Homemade pina colada cupcakes.

Spicy chicken and vegetables on rice.

Frozen yogurt with m&ms and nuts.

3. Shameless vanity:

As always if you want to be instagram friends my name on there is bronnyzig and I will be back with a proper outfit post just as soon as I find my camera which seems to have disappeared recently. But it’s a really big camera, it’s gotta turn up soon.
